In this very weird surreal time all my work such as Weddings and Family photo shoots all postponed along with commercial work too. Taking photos of flowers in the garden can only entertain and challenge you for so long! So, when a client told me about a photographer in Switzerland taking doorstep family photos on their daily exercise I was intrigued.
After a little research I started with families on my street. It has snowballed so to the extent I’m spending lockdown planning my routes around Ponteland and Darras Hall and cycling or walking to homes capturing a moment in history for so many families.
Years ago people used to take photos of their families on their doorsteps and here we are again doing the same pose as we lockdown from this terrible virus to stay safe with loved ones. I have met some amazing people all with different stories as to what they do and how they are coping. The response has been such a lift for me too, keeping me not only busy, but being told that I am doing such a lovely thing so they can print and frame the photo and look back over the years to come and remind themselves of these times makes me happy.
This service is free and all you have to do in return is donate to the justgiving page I have set up for the NHS charities which within just 10 days has hit £400.
Please take a look at just some of the photos I have taken so far – from a little girl celebrating her 1st Birthday to my 98yr old neighbour.
All photos were taken at the safe distance and no physical contact has been made. The beauty of a zoom lens helped create different images.
If you wish for your photo to be taken please message me and I will do my best to fit you in.
